Cambodia is intensifying its efforts to modernize its logistics and transport infrastructure, a strategic move aimed at boosting the nation’s trade competitiveness. This initiative is part of the government’s broader ambition to enhance its connectivity with regional and global supply chains, thereby solidifying its role in international trade networks.
Prime Minister Hun Manet recently led a Council of Ministers meeting to assess the progress of these reforms. The discussions centered on improving supply chains, optimizing trade routes, and upgrading transportation systems. The officials also evaluated strategies to lower transit costs and strengthen connections between Cambodia’s domestic markets and international trade corridors.
The government is guided by the Comprehensive Master Plan on the Cambodian Intermodal Transport and Logistics System 2023–2033. This ambitious plan outlines the development of 174 projects across various sectors, including roads, railways, waterways, ports, aviation, logistics, and intermodal transport. The aim is to create an integrated and efficient transport network that supports the country’s economic growth.
By improving its transport infrastructure, Cambodia hopes to bolster its manufacturing and agro-processing sectors, as well as attract foreign investment. These developments are seen as critical to fostering higher-value industries and enhancing Cambodia’s competitiveness in the global market.
