Biden Aides Considered Cognitive Test Amid Reelection Concerns, Book Reveals

Published on

A new political exposé reveals that President Joe Biden’s inner circle seriously contemplated having him take a cognitive test during the early stages of his 2024 reelection campaign, but ultimately decided against it. The decision, outlined in the upcoming book 2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America, underscores the growing unease within Democratic leadership about Biden’s age and mental sharpness.

The internal discussions reportedly took place in February 2024, at a time when public concern over Biden’s mental fitness was intensifying. According to the book, Biden’s aides believed he could successfully complete a cognitive test, but feared that doing so might amplify doubts rather than silence them.

Later that year, Biden’s performance in a high-stakes televised debate against Donald Trump intensified scrutiny. His faltering delivery and perceived confusion alarmed both voters and party insiders. Facing mounting pressure, Biden eventually withdrew from the race, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor. Despite a rapid pivot in campaign leadership, Harris ultimately lost to Trump, marking a dramatic political comeback for the former president.

The revelations provide new insight into the Democratic Party’s internal struggles and the critical moments that defined a historic election cycle.
